Keep it Simple?

Overheard a conversation between two elderly gentlemen on morning walk.

“My son is very simple for this world. He has to always take the straight (right) path, and just imagine Guptaji, in today’s world how will he survive?”

I’ve heard this one complaint from few other parents and I always wondered why being “simple” such an apprehension for parents? Surely, we don’t want to create psychopaths and machiavellis out of our children do we? Yes, I understand I’m being rhetorical, but in a dog eat dog world I think I would love to meet a few ‘simple’ people who always take the straight path. It would be quite the welcome change actually.
